Any recommendations?

It annoys me that the ECF doesn't have a high pass mode.

I know I can use Thor as an effects unit, though that can be cumbersome, and I also use Synpase's analog filter sometimes, though i find that can alter the sound a lot which is not always desirable.

I just want something that I can quickly drop onto the rack and maybe click a button or two and alter a knob, a two second job type of thing.

Thanks m8s.

GQ-7 is my goto filter. PMS, Analog Filter, Red, F-16 are all pretty good... I am sure i forget some atm.

As for the Reason devices, I always use Pulveriser when I need a simple HP filter.

I use GQ-7 for both high pass and low pass when the filters in the SSL EQ aren't enough.
GQ-7 has a lot of filter slope options and you can adjust them further if you want to.

Don't forget you could also use Thor. Route audio input to filter 3. Set filter 3 to any of Thor's filters you want.

It doesn't look like Etch Red got a mention, but that is one bad mutha filter!

This - I started a thread on this a while back (can't find it) and the Pulverizer was the best suggestion. It also depends on what it's for...for mixing or synthesis or as an effect, etc.

As of Reason 11, the Sweeper Modulation Effect has a clean SVF HP 12dB and MFB HP 24dB filter.

I'm using mclass stereo imager as hpf.

Just click on solo hi band button and move with x-over freq.

kHs is perfect for uncolored filters sweeps.
F-16 is great if you want some coloration.

Original take, but the frequency range is limited and no resonance option.

I agree, but it is also really quick, and for example when I need hpf on midbass sound, I don't need so big range.
Also when I need hpf on higher sounds in spectrum, most of time I grab Thor, or Omega trimmer (this one is also without resonance)

Anyway, do you adjust resonance in hpf often? To me it sounds painful, and when I need to adjust highs, I better use eq.

I actually really like the free Magmasonic classic filter. It seems to do a good job of simple HP/LP filtering, and the resonance and "spice" are nice touches.

If you're just after a HPF or LPF, there is Forgotten Clank Studios' Omega Trimmer with slopes ranging from 6dB all the way to 192dB. It doesn't take up too much space in the rack either which is always a plus.

I must have gotten it when it was a freebie on introduction, but even now it's still a very affordable rack extension.

I use resonance on HPF to adjust low frequency bumps - if you used it for HF it would have to be almost all the way closed, that is to say, you'd pretty much only hear high frequencies so yes it COULD sound painful (depending on the source).

there is also a free Filter that does high and low pass in the shop.

it has "only" 12 or 18 db slopes but most of the time its enough for my needs. and most of the time i turn the "spice" completly down and the volumen completly up.

Now I have realized, that I'm doing the same thing, and that low cut filter in gq-7 is actually another high pass filter.
