1. New Legend synth - best sounding synth over there
2. Chanille - Amazing chorus. If I'm working in Ableton sometimes I export audio into Reason to process with it
3. Echobode and Dream Delay preset - Love that sound
4. Softube TubeTech Channel - Pultec and great compressor!!! one of the best sounding vsts in Reason!!!
5. Carve EQ ducker - Another thing that makes me put Audio into Reason for processing

I'm attempting to choose my top 5.

1 - The Legend - That fat unison is amazing, plus the infinite reverb. And detuning the oscs slightly.. And the filters.. OMG!!
2 - Expanse - one osc is good, but 4 of them together is amazing, plus the effects are really great.
3 - Parsec 2.0 - amazing wavetables and interface, reaching a new high for rack extensions.
4 - Antidote - still amazing.. Plus all the best effects by synapse (apart from the new reverb included on The Legend!)
5 - Fritz Granular Engine - Its so versatile, it would be a crime to not include it.

1. Selig Leveler - this for me is the most amazing dynamic processor i’ve encountered on any platform. Use it all the time and try it on everything.
2. Selig Gain - while it is not as flashy as most other REs, it is surely the most used in my racks. My trusty tool for measuring and gain compensation before the signal hit the mixer.
3. AudioRealism Bassline 3 - genuine sounding ACID х)
4. Kilohearts Transient Shaper - because I love drums and they need shaping :)
5. Drums Sequencer - it gives me the ability to save drums and melodic sequences within my combis. It’s a dream come true.

Love seeing this thread revived!

As of September 2018, my five are (in no order):
The Legend
Antidote
DR-1
RE-2A
Emotional Piano

3 out of 5 are all available in that outrageous Synapse bundle. What a steal.

5. The Legend - best classic synth

Edm / house / club / pop / disco - more modern sound

1. Selig Gain - included in all my Reason projects
2. RE-2A - classic in-your-face compressor, superb midrange niftyness
3. Revival Drawbar Synthesizer - best Hammond ever, superb effects also
4. Moo Tube Compressor - best "unnoticeable" compressor (it's not a Tube compressor, no saturation! and I am glad it is 100% clean)
5. RX950 - instand lo-fi-go-back-to-the-80s filter

Umpf Club Drums/Drum Sequencer - killer combo. I’ll count both as one since Drum Sequencer was free with Umpf and they were basically made for each other. A new drum machine and sequencer was a much needed thing in Reason, and it’s put a lot of fun into it.

Viking VK-2 - The Minimoog Voyager was such a great synth. But too expensive. VK-1 was great. But the added polyphony and routing makes VK-2 a beast of a synth.

Parsec 2 - additive synthesis and waveforms up the wazoo. Props make great synths.

Antidote - killer sounding synth and effects. Close your eyes and you’d think it was a real analog synth.

Mono/Poly - It’s a Korg and I’m a fanboy all the way. But aside from that, it’s got 4 oscillators amd that’s 4 times more fun than the Polysix.

2. Radical Keys
3. A-List Classic Drummer
4. Rotor
5. Synchronous

1. EVE-AT4 4 Band EQ - Best EQ for easy subtractive and boost EQ'ing
2. PMS-20 - At first I hated this filter but then I realized it was cause I didn't know what I was doing. Filter that thickens sound, smooths high end, creates density in synths
3. Europa - The fastest, most versatile synth I've used (and I have Serum). Europa sounds amazing and easy to dial in while being creative.
4. Quadelectra Drum Machines - Instant signature cleanly resampled drum sounds. CV'able and tweak able without random harmonics getting in the way.
5. Softube Saturation Knob - Best and fastest way to easily PUMP a sound till it reach harmonic richness without distorting unwanted harmonics (guessing its due to the saturation shape/curve).

But it helps to keep sanity and a healthier wallet. I had similar idea till the dark side got me and I gave in to the temptation. :D There is more than enough Reason stock devices that could keep my busy for the rest of my life.

I like the idea of keeping Reason first party only. It forces me to try and be creative with a specific set of high quality tools; it also keeps Reason like it used to be :reason:

1. Sacre - Allround toolbox with so many uses, but to spend time with it is reaising the depth of its functionality.
2. Charlotte- A week old but ive been piling subtractors into combies ever since and automating the priority and voice settings . Instant Eno.
3. Stringwerk- 'Instabuy' . I may not know software but i know strings. Arguably the most quality and authentic sound in the shop.
4. Midi to Cv Converter - You have to move with the times and unfortunatley you have to buy this device to keep up. Endless possibilities.
5. Vk-2 - So impressed with the sound quality of this beast ....nigh on unbeatable even if it is a cpu whore.

I'm all for being creative but there are just some tools I can't do without! Well, I could, if I wanted to purposely set myself back and makes things take longer than they should.

Which tools could you simply not do without, out of interest?
