When RE's are allowed to operate in their own multi threaded process like lush can in AU/VST, it will be fine to port as far as cpu goes. That's the big hurdle at the moment as Lush (like diva) works best when it's own multi processing is activated.
It's the sound engine that uses so much CPU so even a stripped down version features wise, as an RE, wouldn't be possible at present, on all but THE most powerful machines.
