Oooh Viking is at a good price! Curious to how people think this stacks up against Legend (apart from the obvious poly/mono aspect). I like the look of the waveshaping, but I also know I really like the sound of Legend. Distinct enough to get both? That'd probably be me for this sale tbh...

I was whining here when I purchased Viking (as part of Synth Rig bundle). I was wrong. As time goes, I like Viking raw analog bass more and more - and it's pretty as standalone filter too. For me, Viking is much more musically useful than Native Instrumenst Monark.

Yeah same, I trialled it when it first came out and I didn't really know a lot about synths. I didn't understand the appeal of monosynths, having been spoilt for choice by digital/virtual poly synths since forever. Now I think I'd appreciate it more.

Might hold fire until Friday and see if Legend gets added. But I mean, I've got many synths that would be good for polyphonic stuff (Zero, eXpanse, Antidote, Parsec 2, etc). So yeah. Let's see what's what tomorrow, then I'll decide.

Oberon's a weird one for me. I proper lusted after it when it came out. Now that I have it, I don't use it anywhere near as much as I should. I spent a little time with it the other night though and I feel like it could be hugely powerful if I just find the right space for it in my workflow. The interface is pretty daunting though! It's almost a program within a program haha.

Got Viking. Wasn't disappointed. If Legend goes in the sale I'll get that too and then (famous last words) I think I'm done with REs for a while, barring anything amazing haha. But Viking is sick. Really recommend it for the money.

The Korg and the KHs are solid choices, but if you have the budget (and a not-super-old computer), Expanse will open up way more possibilities.

Yes, the update that still can not be trialed is still $39, I guess it will have to wait another year...

I was hoping they'd have a sale on the upgrade as sort of a way to pave over the fact that you can't trial it. A little disappointing.

Disperser doesn't look like much because it's a one trick pony, but I find it pretty useful. It just brings out snap to sounds or turn flat boring sounds into something more exciting. Works great on drums (electronic) and basses. It doesn't always work but often enough to buy imo.
It was one of my very few impulse purchases that I thought I might regret, but it's been totally worth it, even for full price I paid for it.
