I'll call it BG. Who's with me?
Yes, I agree. I think we need a new poll:
What do you call it?
BG
BLG
BasGen
Late for dinner
Hit it and quit it, no need to call it

Sorry, that's NOT an option on the poll.

Good job it wasn't called the Bassline Frequency Generator else this guy would be peed off:-challism wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021You got it all wrong; everybody knows BG stands for Brigadier General.Creativemind wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021
BLG? The wonderful abbreviate anything on the tinterweb. If it was to be abbreviated (not you taking it upon yourself to rename a product) it would be BG anyway.
Initially, I was thinking the exact same thing as you, and I wanted to call it BG. I started calling it BLG after I saw others calling it that. I just went along with it, because I didn't want to look like an asshole. ~ (* I don't think you are an asshole... that's my attempt at humor).
Looks like another poll option needs to be added: "Although I'm currently on Reason+, and installed it as soon as it showed up in Reason Companion, I also bought it"StephenHutchinson wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021
Although I'm currently on Reason+, and installed it as soon as it showed up in Reason Companion, I also bought it. I used a $50 CDN rewards coupon to bring it down to $49 CAD. Future-proofing you might call it...

Interesting. Think the final gui was best. Glad they went with the current one.Billy+ wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021Have you read the blog post about the creation of Bassline Generator

It's an interesting read and nice to see some of the background to the creation process.
we asked some sound designers to provide four-bar basslines. These were then painstakingly separated into OnBeat and OffBeat patterns and shipped off to Niklas of Robotic Bean, who created bare bones Player prototypes where we could mix, match and sort the basslines and see what worked and what didn't
Getting some nice results by controlling pattern select with stepped LFO at different sync rates. SO much fun
I listened to the demos was not inspired most sounded lifeless downloaded trial and got bored scrolling through the presets. I will not be buying it and hope in won't become a native device that I can't remove
Why would it be so mutch more melodic sum days than others from wow to junk.

I think the UI is excellent on this Player - Some really well-thought-out stuff (like the "randomize amount knob" that lets you select which part of the baseline to randomize is brilliant!)
The only thing I wish is that you could shirt the pattern left or right by some steps, instead of having to send the midi notes to track. I think I can see why they didn't do it (e.g. does this value get reset when you pick a different pattern? BUT, once you're manually editing the pattern manually already, I don't see why they don't let you shift left/right. I personally like staying in the PLAYER when possible rather than sending to track
I feel like the results I'm getting from the player don't sound very natural, I felt like the beats from Beatmapper sounded more "human" and less robotic. But I'm still learning on baseline Player. E.g. I found that reducing the amount that notes span actually helps me get something that fits my style better, and then I *manually* adjust the notes (but not rhythm) to sound like something that works for me
Anyway, I think the Player is a wonderful addition

I call it Bassline Generator as that's it's name and my finger won't drop off typing 18 letters (including space) and capitalising.

If you use pattern automation (Alt-click on one of the pattern selection buttons or choose Pattern Select in the automation list), you can shift the pattern without sending to track. Just create a pattern select clip and shift it the number of steps you want (by setting snap to 1/16), then adjust the edges of the clip.groggy1 wrote: ↑12 Dec 2021The only thing I wish is that you could shirt the pattern left or right by some steps, instead of having to send the midi notes to track. Here's a pattern that's been shifted 2 steps to the left:
It's not a perfect solution, of course, but it's still a workaround that lets you shift a pattern while keeping it "live".

Does really well with chord and delay players attached especially through a europa lead synth patch with a varying lfo on the loop

The final UI is great, but BassFace is too good a name to leave on the cutting room floorBilly+ wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021Have you read the blog post about the creation of Bassline Generator

That works perfectly, thank you!
