I understand that, but the authorizer should not try to update REs then, right? It is not that they do not update or that the updated version does not open, it is that ir removes the old version leaving me without the RE.

I guess that if I open Reason with online authorization I lose the offline authorization and cannot authorize again for offline use.

You can use online authorization. Your license is not being updated—nothing is being added and nothing removed. It's no longer supported for any of that. The issue you are having is that you updated The Legend, which is now a newer version than the version you have authorized for your old offline authorization license. Using online authorization is not going to affect that.

My suggestion though is to save yourself the headache and update Reason and use the new authorization system. You can authorize up to three machines for offline use.

You stated at the start you installed new RE's, how did you do that? e.g. from your account page..
Also note these new RE's will only work with online authorization.

Just a slight clarification: You can authorize up to three machines for long term offline use, i e up to one year at a time (automatically pushed forward every time you go online if you have a license). The number of regular offline entitlements (up to 30 days at a time) is bigger.

There is your answer, you upgraded it so now you have to use it online. That's the bummer of using Sync All however to use the other new devices you will have to be online anyway...

I removed it and installed it again, but that did not help.

In my big desktop PC I still keep the 1.2.2 version, and the contents are quite different.

Move the 1.2.2 version folder to the laptop instead of 1.2.8.
The old authorization should work.
This is how I work with Ignition Key (I don't update anything else).

Amazing, this works! I have all my REs back Luckily my PC kept the same versions that I had on my laptop.

Never delete these files from the folder:

RackExtensions\30f9ffea59c.cache
RackExtensions\df858d0e909c.cache

I don't remember, but one of them contains the licenses Legend.1.2.2 and all the others.
Losing them will not even launch Legend.1.2.2

Therefore, it makes sense to always back up your RackExtensions folder.
