I'm interested in the Pink Noise synths - will probably grab Luna at some point, and I see that there's a great bundle deal on the three Maia synths
But do I want all three? I get that Maia is for acoustic/electric sounds, and the other two are modelled on particular synths. So is it a case of "Well, if you like the Oberheim Matrix, get Maia Matrix, while if you like the Waldorf Microwave XTK, get Maia Orange"? or are there other features that set them apart from each other?
Interested in anyone's thoughts - I don't really have time to trial three synths at the moment
Which Maia synth do you like best?

They're all essentially the same engine, it's the samples which differ. I would get the original Maia first and, if you like it, see the other two as expansions which let you use the same powerful engine but with different samples based on analogue synthesiser sounds instead of the original's organic sounds.dvdrtldg wrote: ↑07 Jul 2023I'm interested in the Pink Noise synths - will probably grab Luna at some point, and I see that there's a great bundle deal on the three Maia synths

Ahh OK, that makes sense. I'll probably do as you suggest and pick up the original Maia - will wait for Black Friday if I want the others, $79 is pretty steep for an expansion pack

I picked the Orange version a year ago mainly because it is based on the Waldorf Microwave XTK.
I've tried the other and didn't like the waves of those as much as I liked the ones on the Orange version but I guess it is more about personal taste, the synth engine is identical like EverybodyNeedsA303 mentioned.
I demoed it here for some psy / goa style patterns if you want to check it out:

Maia for me (all three) has been the plugin that keeps on giving.
I am not a sound engineer, I'm more into the composition so I am not good at creating sounds from scratch, basically a preset lurker I hate to admit (and to start with - there isa plethora!). Whilst the engine is the same, now and then I have to tweak patches i like and I just keep on finding more and more ways to fiddle with things - in the hands of the competent it's a beast!
I bought all three in a bundle, and whilst I don't have a preference I am so glad I did. I went on to buy Luna, which looks absolutely fantastic in the rack. I don't use it as often as the other three but I consider them, for my sort of composition anyway very much part of the staple diet.
I repeat I'm not a sound/patch creator, and whilst I can fettle patches to get the effect I want I probably am not getting the full capabilities of the devices because I just patch browse to fill a need. It'd be great if you can get refills for extra sounds though (they may exist I havent checked)
