Idd a good filter/drive. Always forget it. Maybe its just because its freaking ugly and quite CPU heavy.

Yeah, Etch Red is a beast. I love it, but it is a DSP hog. Great distortion modes and a lot of different filters to choose from. Plus, dual filter, all that on-board modulation, sample & hold.... I'm going to go play with Etch now.
Players are to MIDI what synthesizers are to waveforms.

After some trialing I ended up buying Blamsofts F-16.

They're pretty much my favourite thing. Along with compressors, reverbs, delays, saturators, EQs, phasers, flangers, distortions, ring mods, tape emulations, amp sims, preamps, limiters, choruses, gates, wideners, doublers, frequency shifters and transient shapers
