But we can still post it inside this thread for promotion?Noel G. wrote:There will be no submissions thread on the forum so please ensure you upload to SoundCloud and then add your tracks to the group page, ensuring you use your forum and Reason user name so that we can easily identify you.
Big thanks once again Noel and Rob for making this happen. I always have a blast with these challenges.

Thanks, tibah! Yes, post your submission here for others to hear (I'm a poet and yo know it ), but we will only accept/judge songs added to the Nostromo SoundCloud group. Good luck!tibah wrote:But we can still post it inside this thread for promotion?Noel G. wrote:There will be no submissions thread on the forum so please ensure you upload to SoundCloud and then add your tracks to the group page, ensuring you use your forum and Reason user name so that we can easily identify you.

So, I'm not sure if I'm just not understanding, but can I use guitar and other instruments? (Piano, strings etc.)?

I'm in
Deep Sleep Dreams
ALL the sounds you hear are from Nostromo.
Like sleep and dreams this piece is limited in content and place yet seems to be in a large space. There are actually few musical parts but i recycle them with little alterations, just as a dream recycles things in our life to make something seemingly new - and surreal.

Here's a thought, can we use Reason 9? It will be available to the general public come June 21.

Hello Lowlifebware, we can't dictate wish Re capable version of Reason participants may use. The "Players" in R9 are native device so it's up to individuals to decide wish Reason version they want to use. I will note this in the rules to minimize questions regarding Reason 9 and the "Players". Thanks.Lowlifebware wrote:Here's a thought, can we use Reason 9? Here's my entry:
All Nostromo except some of the drums.

Funny, I already hear copyrighted material in one of the tracks. I've never entered these song challenges before, is this rule often ignored?Noel G. wrote:Welcome to Reasonistas and Lectric Panda's Nostromo Spectral Synthesizer Song Challenge.
What you may not use in your song:

We do our best to identify and reject songs that do not comply with the rules. It's not always obvious when someone uses copyrighted material, but if you spotted something, please send me a pm so we can investigate.Neosaki wrote:Funny, I already hear copyrighted material in one of the tracks. Couple questions:
1. Should entrants (or should entrants not) master their entries? If so, under what terms (i.e. does it have to be in Reason or could it be using external plugins)?
2. Assume drum samples used in Kong are okay?
EDIT: it's already over WHOOPS! Never mind. Good luck to anyone who entered!

As far as mastering, I mastered mine right inside of reason with reason devices. I think any external mastering is forbidden, but I could be wrong.
Kong DRUM and PERCUSSION samples are permitted...
Thanks! So double "duh" for me.Despondo wrote:It's not over until July 7th....So please enter if you want to.The_G wrote:Couple questions:

The_G., you may only master in Reason.
5 Nostromos walk into a bar...
This is just 5 Nostromos and drums. 2 of the Nostromos are pretending to be 303s. The pads choked my computer (not to the extent that it stopped playing, but to the extent that it stuttered all over the place).
I'm gonna have to seriously consider upgrading my CPU (from a triple core 3.3ghz to an octa core 4.0ghz or higher) if I want to get Nostromo and use it without such worries.

I write acid music in Reason and perform live on a bunch of machines without computers.

I can't remember, were you allowed to enter with more than one song?
It might not happen anyway, but it's still good to know.
