This is an SSL-style Combinator for the VST3 version of FabFilter Pro-Q 3. I find this layout useful for relying on my ears instead of depending too much on spectrum analyzers. With this setup, you have instant access to functional EQ controls directly in the rack. If you own Pro-Q 3 and prefer cleaner filters compared to the Channel EQ, this could be a great option. If you're unsure what a Switch or Control does, just check the tooltip.

In the backdrop, the dB rotary scales are spaced at 3 dB per dot, which provides a practical range for mixing (-15 dB to +15 dB).
Like many other EQ plugins, Pro-Q 3 uses logarithmic spacing, so the gaps between frequency ranges (e.g., 100 Hz–200 Hz / 1 kHz–2 kHz / 10 kHz–20 kHz) are wider as the frequency increases. This is represented in the Combinator backdrop:
- Dark purple dot: 50 Hz
- Dark purple range: 100 Hz–200 Hz
- Gray dot: 500 Hz
- Gray range: 1 kHz–2 kHz
- Dark gray dot: 5 kHz
- Dark gray range: 10 kHz–20 kHz
