Find the updateded version 2 here.

I just wanted to explore how to synthesize the classic 909 Kick. Here is the result.
On the left are the most basic controls. All the other stuff is for further sound shaping. Lot of stuff to explore. Have fun!

This combinator patch is awesome. Got some grimey 808 type sounds within the parameters you set. Love it

Looks and sounds great, thanks for sharing
Hey, now you can add those new TR buttons, not sure for what though
Btw I wasn't familiar with the CV8X4, such a simple but very useful little rack!

Is this also working for Reason 11 Suite?

Well I have Nava, TR-8S, Drumazon, and Roland Cloud 909 (I know it's a lot of 909). I also have AirBase (which is a different thing but people like to call that 909 as well) They are all somewhat different but could pass as a 909. The point is I can safely say I know how a real 909i kick should sound.Loque wrote: ↑19 Dec 2021Find the updateded version 2 here.

Your Combinator kick sounds nothing like a 909 kick. I am not here to devalue your work I actually think combinator GUI is amazing which is why I downloaded it.
I see you put a lot of effort into it but this isn't even remotely as close as a 909 kick.
You can download a trial of a Roland Cloud 909 and compare from there. You will see that your model sounds nothing like a real 909. Though I think their Cloud 909 version is really not "there" it is still convincing especially after some processing. In Tr-8S there are several ACB 909 kicks and all of them have that gut thump and "I am dominant kick".
The Drumazon model reminds me of my real 909 which I sold 17 years earlier (regretfully). As in it needs a lot of engineering to sound good. Like a real old 909.
Regards
edit: Here's a plain ACB 909 TR8S kick - short mp3 - I have it prepared here so it's the quickest model version.

Well, using a basic synth it is not always so easy to catch every little thing of the analog world and i am sure you will agree, that even not every 909 sounds exactly the same as another one.
So, i took the challange and tweaked the patch a little bit and this is obviously the advange of not having samples - that you can tweak it to your taste.
So, guess which 909 is which. 4 kicks the one, 4 kicks the other...

Pardon me, my English is limited in a way I may turn to sound harsh. My intention wasn't to hurt your feelings. You are a valuable member of this board with a lot of good information (posts). Perhaps I put it wrongly, keep in mind I am really limited.. Let me rephrase. Your combinator and especially the front end is awesome. The sound might be better. I am pretty sure Resaosn is more than capable to model a 909 kick with inbuilt tools, it just happened that particular comby didn't work for me., I am emotional about the 909 kick which is why I posted it.Loque wrote: ↑12 Mar 2023

Btw in your mp3, first 4 kicks are really weird (for a clean 909 kick emu). Second 4 sound more convincing. But with little sound engineering, both could work as a 909.
Please don't take my comment too seriously I didn't want to devalue your work. Keep posting amazing creations.
Have a great week.
