Hi, I have been trying to figure out the best way that I can control my Rack sequencers (like Redrum and Matrix) within Cubase.
I see that in Cubase I can select an automation lane, then select pattern, and then use this fading automation to control the pattern, but the problem is this is just such a bad way to do this? Just not meant to control patterns in this manner.
The pattern is jumping all around, the values simply don't translate, it is difficult/impossible to get tight transitions like when using the old method with Rewire and Reasons own sequencer from the stand alone version.
The Pattern Sequencer is not meant to be fed by values like this.
It sounds bad, not easy to control. Is there a better way to do this?
Perhaps by using Expression maps?
I would love to hear your thoughts, thanks.

Okay, so I spent too much time to do this already but this is how it is done.
Simply put the device in the Combinator.
Open Editor
Under Source Select Key
Under Target select Selected Pattern
Done.
thank you, now lets make music.

Indeed it's a good idea, thank you! One caveat is that AFAIK it cannot do the same "trick" as Reason's sequencer and retrigger/restart the pattern when a new note is pressed, just select a different one. I mean this:

Oh, ya that is fun sometimes.
I actually noticed another difference and that some of my songs using the Reason sequencer had the pattern NOT start at the first beat, something you can do by dragging the ends of the clip. But no big problem I can work around that.
BTW I got this trick from another poster here. TY!
