I don't know why they just did such a huge change to the sequencer, it brings notes tool but totally killed the great workflow. They seperate the sequncer from the arrangement view in 13, just the same as Ableton, Logic etc. Now in R13 you have to repeat jumping from sequencer to Arrangwment view. I even think that the old layout make the workflow as fast as FL Studio, but finally they changed it.
You can create new tracks on the left and directly edit things on the right before, that's fast:
