I really like Thor and using the sequencer but chaining a bunch of whole Thor's together to do a long sequence is a space hogger. I would love to see a standalone Thor sequencer, the complete chainable sequencer with all buttons, knobs, everything. I chained 8 of them together for a short song, but a full length song would probably tax my computer. A standalone would make it easier to see all the sequencers at the same time what they are doing and troubleshooting.
What say ye?
A Standalone Thor Sequencer...

On the contrary, Thor is the most efficient piece of kit out there.
If you dont start mingling poly notes, Cpu should do Ok.

That is good to know. But I still have trouble getting more than one Thor sequencer within view, (I can, but it is tricky) so I can track and follow the sequencers to make sure they are doing what I want them to do. It would be easier if they are next to each other.
Or maybe they could make foldable sections in Thor, so for instance, I only want to view the sequencer, I could fold the middle section/s. Or even the top too.
But thanks for the info.

Robotic Bean's "STEP" sequencer is an excellent alternative to the Thor sequencer. Thirty-two steps, Vel, Width, Repeat, Conditions and two CV Curves, step recording, scales, various playback directions, slide, and even a shuffle that can affect 1/8 and 1/4 notes. Combine a few of them with RB's free "SELECT" CV Switch and you've got a powerful setup that could easily handle a long song structure.

Of course, you could keep it simple with a handful of Matrix sequencers.

Thank you huggermugger for the suggestions. I am trying the Step Note Recorder II. I'll use that until I reach some limitation then I'll complain again. At least now I can easily get two sequencers (or if you think about it, the equivalent of 4 Thor sequencers in view at the same time. It only has half the speed settings of Thor, but when I reach that limitation, you'll know!
Question though: is it possible to use these two devices (Step Note and Select CV Switch with the Run button on Thor, or will it only work with the Reason sequencer Run button? If it works the Thor Run button, how do I get it to work? Just cuz I wanto.
Maybe I'll have to take up Reason software development to make my own devices. I have tried C, C++ before, but gave up after "Hello World", and drawing a box. It was way too much brain power required for me. Trying to remember all the ..... stuff. See? I can't even remember what all the .... stuff was called.

Yes it's easy to do this. If you plug a series of pulses or triggers into the Clock In of STEP, then STEP ignores the Reason clock. You can then use triggers from the Thor sequencer to clock the STEP sequencer. (you can also use LFOs and anything else that will output triggers, even your keyboard). The Reset input on STEP helps keep Thor and STEP in sync.ChulaCoola wrote: ↑21 Oct 2024Question though: is it possible to use these two devices (Step Note and Select CV Switch with the Run button on Thor, or will it only work with the Reason sequencer Run button? Ok, I was sending Thor's End of Seq Out to somewhere. I tried a whole bunch of things.
Thanks, I'll try that.

I tried what you showed in the pics. It plays, but Step Note plays at the same time as the Thor Sequencer. I want StepNote to play after Thor sequencer stops playing it's last step. BTW, I did try sending the End of Seq Out to Reset in instead. Same thing. I tried a whole bunch of other combos also, one of which made StepNote not play until Thor Sequencer was done, but StepNote only played the 1st note in StepNote.
I'm kind of having my doubts about this one.
