Hello Reason Community,
As an experienced guitarist and a committed user of Reason, I've discovered that the DAW is an indispensable tool for both my solo endeavors and group performances. My main usage centers around VST Amp and Cab simulators; while this may not be the standard use for many, it has been essential for my live shows.
I believe several developmental changes could significantly enhance Reason's functionality for musicians. These improvements would greatly benefit our workflow and live performance capabilities.
1. Exclusive Button Selection
Introducing an exclusive selection feature for buttons, particularly within the Combinator, would greatly benefit live performers.
Here's the proposed functionality:
Pressing "Button 1" activates it and simultaneously deactivates "Button 2" and "Button 3." Pressing "Button 2" then activates it while deactivating "Button 1" and "Button 3," and so forth.
This feature is crucial for live performances, where swift and dependable toggling between effects is essential.
Currently, I have to manually activate and deactivate each effect. However, with this enhancement, I could seamlessly switch from one effect to another using a footswitch, eliminating the need to manually disengage the previous effect.
2. Enhanced Combinator Dial Settings
Enhancing the flexibility and clarity of the Combinator dials would be a considerable improvement:
Customizable Dial Ranges: Allow users to set the starting and ending values for dials during the Combinator editing process.
Visible Dial Ranges: Make it possible for dials to show these customized starting and ending values.
Implementing this change would offer increased precision and user-friendliness when tweaking parameters, rendering the Combinator more user-friendly and effective for both live performances and studio use.
3. Independent Click Track Routing
For live band settings, the ability to route the click track to multiple output sources independently would be highly beneficial:
Independent Click Track Routing: Enable the click track to be sent to specific outputs without splitting the main L/R signal. This would allow better control over what is sent to different outputs, such as in-ear monitors, without affecting the main mix.
This feature would streamline the monitoring setup, providing each band member with the necessary click track feed without compromising the overall sound.
By incorporating these features, Reason would become even more versatile and user-friendly for live musicians.
These improvements would be advantageous not just for guitarists but would also amplify the DAW's overall capabilities for a range of live applications.
Thank you for considering these suggestions. I look forward to seeing how Reason continues to evolve to meet the diverse needs of its user base.
Best regards,
Causality
