Sample Preview When Audio Output Differs from 1/2 (Big flaw!)

Hi I normally keep my main output in 1/2 and then create a ctrl room out connection to my mixers main output(25/26)r. It's automatic main output is channel 25/26. this works fine for me most of the time but when i am looking for samples I can never hear the preview. I see the mixer levels showing for 1/2 but no sound comes out. yet i can still export audio files and have them work fine. Why is this? It makes sample searching very difficult and time consuming. I almost prefer not to. OR I have use another DAW that works with my mixer. Can this please be solved? If you need more info on my mixer / audio setup I will gladly let you know. Thanks!!
