In the channel strip we can have only one controllable insert now.
But if I want to have insert's rack with 2-3-5 inserts I must break audio chain and use main insert with Spider without ability of change of patches on the fly.
My suggestion is add extra audio in/out stereopair onto back panel of mix/audio channel as external insert.
Small tweak for Mix and Audio channels

I think you misunderstand the Insert area. You can have an infinite chain of effects/processors. Or of course you can use the Direct Outs (or insert a Parallel Channel) if you want to do something less conventional.

Because I said about serial FX into one channel.eauhm wrote:Why not use a paralell channel ?
No. Do you have Cubase (as example)?Benedict wrote:I think you misunderstand the Insert area. You can have an infinite chain of effects/processors. Or of course you can use the Direct Outs (or insert a Parallel Channel) if you want to do something less conventional.
Insert section has 8 independent (connected in series) slots there.
With ability of separate patch change and listing.
Reason has one onboard insert, but I use serial rack like at pic bottom: But then I lose the main channel strip insert.
Or I must to edit main insert and change breakout: But then main insert cannot free patch listing.
Of course it's not such a big problem to talk seriously about it, but to have an external insert would be convenient
Aa far as I understand cubase needs to have multiple slots because you can't chain multiple devices into 1 slot. Reason doesn't need that, therefor there's just the one slot.. But that's the way I look at it

If I understand you correctly, one way I have suggested getting around this issue is to allow multiple Combinators to reside in the Insert section. You then select which Combinator has "focus" for the programmer/rotaries/buttons/browser, and you're golden.
Now that you can shift-drag them to a different order, this is the only hurdle left in cleaning up the insert section IMO. In the mean time, I put Combinators outside of the insert section as you have done here:

Yes, Selig. I absolutely forgot about shift-drag tweak.
My suggestion is fully crap.
