We had this thread a long time ago. I always thought it was a fun theme for a thread.
So let's do it again.

RULES:

Guess the synth/instrument posted last.

Once someone has gotten the correct answer anyone is free to post a new example/instrument. You can just name it "Guess The Synth 2, 3 ,4" etc.

If you post a new example, stick to only ONE synth or instrument from the Reason world, meaning either a Reason stock instrument or a rack extension. No VSTs. It's ok to add some external effects like EQ, compression, delay, reverb etc. But really the focus should be on the instrument in question.

I'll go first to start things off.
I think this one shouldn't be that difficult.

How many guesses can we have as if this is an easy one I am in trouble.

I am going to go with grain.

I don't think we need to make any hard rules. But if your guess is incorrect then maybe wait a day or so before you make another guess, to give someone else a shot too. But I don't think we should put a limit on the number of guesses for any one person.

Nope, it's not Grain. Maybe it wasn't as easy as I thought. Considering how many synths and instruments there are to choose from I guess most of these examples will be pretty hard.

Ha ha yeah I have no plans to spam it up. Probably best if people have one guess unless the thread dies a death and then people can try again.

Good game 👍

The first thing which popped into my mind for the first challenge was: Snakebite.

😂this is gonna be hard
so many synths can make the same sounds

what might be easier is covering tunes what the synth was used on

I’m mostly hopeful to see some engagement in the thread. I’d rather that people guess too much than that the thread dies out out of well meaning politeness to others. 🙂
If you have other guesses you’re more than welcome to have a go again.

IMO this synth has it’s own sound.

I’ll give away a smaller clue.
I would say it’s a pretty limited synth.

I would put my money (not all of it) on Revival from Sononics, using the Patch "Ham and Bars" by exode.

By the way, good looking avatar Tritone!

It's not Revival either. But I feel like we're getting a little bit closer in some sense.

I'll add another clue. It's got its own included FX section, which I have made use of in the example.
And as I mentioned before, it's a rather limited instrument with its own character. It's far from a jack-of-all-trades synth.

So anyone, feel free to make the next example. I'll probably make more myself, but it would be more fun if different people chimed in too.

I don't own that one myself, but initially thought it was at least one of Jiggs. Your clue narrowed it down for me :puf_wink:

Well, a nice rule would be, If you guessed it, provide the next example ? : )
Also keep it in the same thread ?

If the person is up for that, sure. I don't want that to be a rule though, in case it makes some people not want to participate in guessing. It could feel like a burden.
Another problem could be that the person takes forever to make the next example if their time is limited, rather than if anyone can chime in whenever they've got something.

So crimsonwarlock would you like to make a quick example next? Or do you want to leave it up to whoever comes up with the next bit first?
Let us know.

Yeah I think we'll keep it in the same thread. At least for now.

I'm already thinking about something, but that will be later today, as it is currently over thirty degrees Celsius in my studio

Alright, it sounds like you're up for it.
So let's decide you provide the next bit.
Otherwise let us know.

And keep in mind it doesn't have to be a masterpiece of any sort, just something simple you can put together rather quickly. It's more important we get a nice pace and engagement in the thread.

Looking forward to hear the next bit

After Synplant 2 release every answer in such challenges could be Synplant 2 :)
