I'm making a "SuperTractor" combinator to help bring Subtractor into the modern world. My first version was pretty successful, wiring in a RPG-8, an Arturia JUN-6 chorus and The Echo. Subtractor patches suddenly sounded a lot richer and fun.

Now I have R13 and the Stereo Tool and I'm thinking of adding it in, but should it go before or after the chorus? And perhaps I should swap out The Echo for Ripley?

Perhaps you prefer blue over green? It’s up to you.
That said, I’d make sure I liked what each effect was adding to the ‘whole’, especially since both are doing similar things (one static, the other with motion).
I tried the two options and don’t think in this case it makes a lick of difference. But I’m also not convinced the Stereo Tool brings much to the table compared to the Juno Chorus.
Since order won’t matter much if at all in this case, setup each one to your liking and then add the stereo tool and compare to JUN-6 on it’s own. Your call, but I tend to be brutal in that if the FX isn’t adding an obvious or even noticeable effect, and if I’m already happy with the original on it’s own, I go with LESS over MORE every time. Easier on the CPU, both hardware CPU and my brain CPU! Less clutter, simpler to trouble shoot, easier to make changes (less possible things to change) etc. Just my personal philosophy after spending time with setups that had “everything”, and realizing there was a definite law of diminishing returns when adding “more”…

That’s the nub and I hadn’t really considered it that way, I can certainly see that some patches would benefit from chorus over simple stereo widening. I’ll wire it in as a toggle (off | chorus | stereo)

Or use Stereo Tool and modulate the freq knob ;-)
Ooor use a Phaser ;-)

Just be aware that if you use Quartet after Stereo Tool, that you can kill the created stereo if settings aren't suitable.
