Reason content creators/youtubers
With Jelie moving on to using others daws alongside reason it got me thinking who else creates online content for rs specifically now.
I can think of hydlide, reason themselves, occasionally underdog, sef nitty(although I don't watch his stuff) and that's it.
Are there any other creators who use reason? Perhaps there is some I don't know about I could give a watch.

None I’m aware of that offer anything worthwhile…
I used to watch a lot of LearnReason (great for learning mixing in general too IMO, I attribute most of my current mixing prowess to him) and Stock music Musician (for tips and tricks) and also DJ Qasar and Sef Nitty also have good tutorials
Crazy thing is if you search Reason 13 tutorial on YT and filter results for the last month there is barely any content except a few videos from Reason channel and few from Kickback and Sef. Kind of crazy considering a new update usually drives a lot of traffic. When FL drops updates there are hundreds of creators making videos about it. It really shows how insignificant and unpopular the R13 update is. Doesn’t mean R13 is bad but I still hold the opinion that they made certain unnecessary and superficial changes, those being the website redesign and new browser and split view ripoff of Logic.
I’m ranting again and I shouldn’t because there’s still amazing stuff I can do in Reason but it’s so obvious how bad their business model is. Like drop the browser, introduce a perpetual license tier similar to FL studio with lifetime updates and then have a separate option for monthly or annual subscription. Like don’t leave out modules in a “FULL” perpetual version of Reason and only include it in the subscription model. Such false advertising and stupid complications

Oh cheesus, not stock music musician
Just curious what kind of Reason content are ya'll looking for? Like producers cooking up, tips and tricks or general stuff? I'm thinking about making a channel for my beats specifically, mostly just cook up videos in FL and Reason
Could it be because there's little growth in the userbase? so, there are few new people coming along who need the content as well as fewer content creators joining the platform.
Remember when we had regular videos from IIRC James Bernard!

Well I would guess that most of us on this forum aren't really looking for content, other than the occasional tip/trick. However, a lot of us originally learned Reason from YouTube content, and this might be the best direction to head towards for your own channel. In short, content for beginner & intermediate users.
Top of my head: Individual tutorials on each/every Reason device; workflow tutorials; sound-design tutorials with Reason devices; 'quick-tip' tutorials.
It would be useful to look back at some of the old content, -not for the content itself but for the subjects. Somebody mentioned LearnReason, -I think he did a great series on things like the Reason Mixer. Look up Dorincourt and Speo, -I think they did a lot of great sound-design and production videos. Immediately numerous others come to mind (indeed, it seems much more silent now). Just look back at some of these and see what they were posting; the same concept would be very useful today.
Just my two stotinki...
I'm quite open about what I watch if I get value from it. I like to watch gear reviews, general tips and tricks, using equipment in new unique ways, all sorts really. If videos are about music production i prefer them to be in the style of the music I make but at the same time have got interesting things to try from watching videos in different styles.
Even if people recorded videos of them just jamming and creating music i can usually see something I haven't done before and consider trying myself.

Ryan, Chris Reed, and PoohBear(carly) are the ones I watch. There are quite a few more I used to watch but when they turned negative over upgrades I unsub'd. I have seen a few of DJ Quasar's videos too. He is fun but I have been a user for so long his content is not for me. If you like weird shit and making reason do things it shouldn't do watch carly.

Yea, like MPE in Reason
Reason13, Win10
Some good ideas. There’s really infinite content ideas. I’m not really used to talking on camera but maybe could be fun. Cook up videos would probably be my most natural method, where I might utter a word here and thereNMHindman wrote: ↑08 Oct 2024Well I would guess that most of us on this forum aren't really looking for content, other than the occasional tip/trick. Tbh a lot stuff I learned esp. in FL was from cook up videos. Barely any explanation, they are just screen recording with facecam and if you pay attention you can learn a lot. It really expedited my learning of FL especially since I got it not too long ago and now consider myself fluentPopey wrote: ↑08 Oct 2024I'm quite open about what I watch if I get value from it. Too much work for me. It’s a lot easier if I record in segments when I’m ready to add or change something in the process.PhillipOrdonez wrote: ↑08 Oct 2024Try streaming on twitch, then editing the recording for a more condensed YouTube video
Because if I will be speedrunning music for content, my style will still at least take a few hours if we are including arrangement, mixing and mastering. And those hours will usually be spread throughout the day. For example, 2 hours in the morning for composition, arrangement and mixing. 1 hour in evening for mixing polish and mastering. Then I could condense content into 10+ minutes video

I will weigh in on this. I have been making vids using Reason most of the time for a decade or two. It has never taken off. People say they want it, but then they don't watch, don't respond, and of course never see my bank balance improve. This is the time that "content creators" are realizing that we were ultimately fed a pack of BS. People are more likely to abuse a creator than to help build a community or personal relationship. This makes people reassess and either try another tack or simply bail on the whole disappointing enterprise.
These are some of my vids and you note how low interaction is. Not all specifically Reason focused but all done in Reason. Each of these addresses common Q in places like this. The quality of the material is high but the interest is low. I am not suited to peddling garbage (the usual suspects poop) but there should be people wanting better than that - and yet...
Looking deep into using EQ (95 views):
Deep Intro to Synthesis P I & II (179 & 120 view respectively):
Speakers vs Headphones (108 views and got me suspended in an audio group):
I would still make videos for the love of my craft IF there were value in it. That is if people asked Q and then engaged in the vid when it was made, shared in places like this, ppped some coin in my Ko-Fi or even better hired me for the real work when they have a release they want to have shine - all the things that should happen but don't.

Breaking through the algorithm is not an easy task. Lots of factors at play. You can find several other channels with similar topics but much greater traction. There’s a science to it. If you want it you gotta study it. Making videos with informative content alone does not make the cut on its own. ♂️
Your vids are great the new synthesis ones took me to a new level quickly and that was very motivating for me, must have been a lot of work to condense it to such an easily consumable format like that and it sucks there aren't enough Reason users to make things worthwhile and to find more interest in the other things you offer. I think loads and loads of people had much higher expectations for Reason but Reason never advanced in leaps and bounds, lots and lots of REs but the sequencer only got a couple of things over a decade and it remained more of a niche DAW which is a weird place to be in business unless you kind of trap your customers lol jk. By the way this is all rhetorical I am not interested in discussing this further I don't need people telling me oh they are a small company and they are poor lol or whatever other crap you want to come up with by the way I mean that in the nicest way possible
TL;DR - Props gonna Prop

That's where I probably went wrong, the "edit for a more condensed video" part…PhillipOrdonez wrote: ↑08 Oct 2024Try streaming on twitch, then editing the recording for a more condensed YouTube video

I didn’t think of Selig as a YouTuber, so I want to change my earlier comment to include Selig as a worthwhile channel, however it’s tricky given it isn’t a channel focused on YouTube videos but instead is a stream and that’s a different category for me. If you turned those streams into condensed videos then you’d be closer to a YouTuber, but I would think you would need to do more than the once per month stream you are doing
I also forgot to mention our fellow slow robot (aka guitfnky) who probably puts nice material as well when he actually does (seldom? If at all?) and Benedict’s content is also worthwhile, however both would probably benefit from better production. (See the comment about studying the science behind YouTube success)
Totally agree with all of the above, but have to wonder if youtube “success” is as important as well produced and useful content? I certainly don’t have the time or consistency of posting to ever ‘succeed’ on any level, and if there’s one thing slowing me down it’s the knowledge that the quality of the material AND production is important, and both take lots of time to get right (at least for me!).PhillipOrdonez wrote: ↑09 Oct 2024Hey if you need an editor I do some of that as well

Interestingly, I was just thinking about a series on the new R13 “tools” since there are multiple tricks for each of the three new devices I’ve not seen covered yet (but by no means did I scour the interwebs to see for sure).

I do wonder that as well, but I do know that there’s no “success” on YouTube without the high quality production behind, which certainly takes a lot of time. I have a couple of clients who are moving into YouTube after years of being audio podcast only and that means I’m doing video post production again after a decade off that, and I quite enjoy it as well. Definitely a lot more to take into consideration, lots more hours compared to audio onlyselig wrote: ↑09 Oct 2024Totally agree with all of the above, but have to wonder if youtube “success” is as important as well produced and useful content? I think the Reason users who make content need to understand that to get more views everything lies in the Title and keywords because that is how a search engine works. So with that in mind, consider making content that is useful or entertaining for a general music producer or listener. This is why I recommend and think about doing something like “cook ups” where anyone can watch you make a song from start to finish
For example:
“Making an INSANE BEAT | Reason 13 Cookup”
vs
“How to use Ripley in Reason 13”
The first has more search volume due to the keyword phrases “making a beat” and “beat cookup”. This will yield more impressions.
Next thing to note would be a great thumbnail. This is called the hook and reel. Then it’s up to your content to keep viewers interested. That could be in the form of substance, entertainment and cool editing. If you can provide 1 of the first two you have a chance to succeed. If you can combine that with cool vfx editing it will be even better. There are also tricks to increase watch time which is basically talk a bunch of BS and build suspense before getting to the point of the video. I’m totally against that so I don’t recommend it, but if you do it I’d recommend making intros more useful. In short this is how YT works
