A great way to discover new rhythms is to purposefully play without rhythm and use quantize

I particularly like doing this for clavinet. No need for a player device for this!

Try the following:
  1. Load up a clav patch
  2. Mute everything (don't need to monitor)
  3. Play randomly and sloppy (try on just the black keys)
  4. Quantize
  5. Instant Funky clav
Then you can go through and select parts that you like to cut, copy and paste.

Only use the black keys if you are Superstitious.

This is pretty much the way I always play! ha ha
Players are to MIDI what synthesizers are to waveforms.
