so i've been looking for some free vocals to play about with and for the life of me i can't seem to find anything for free, no matter where i go someone wants something even if its an email address to hassle you with cr*p you don't want - then even worse after registering the files are no better than if you had done it your self so :-

grab these tools use youtube-dl from the command line

youtube-dl.exe -x --audio-format wav the link to the video
open the file in deCoda and make a note of any info that you might need
the demo is enough and runs forever

So after a bit more reading the extractions will definitely be improved with the use of a couple of extra tools
  • a de roomer. To remove reverb
  • a de noiser. To remove other noise such as the artefacts
If anyone else has any more information about these devices and preferably FREE version that could improve the results please feel free to comment with locations and any tips you can add.

I will continue to search for better solutions and post what I find.

One thing worth a mention is that the BPM detection in deCoda is not as good as TraktorDJ - which you will be able to get for free via a Native ID account.

You can use this chart to convert from Traktor's key labels to musical scales.

I've heard Izotope RX8 can extract acapella vocals from a song but not tried. Saw Dr.Mix using it on You Tube last year.
