Hi! :)

My question: Are there basic adjustments for each instrument in a mixdown?

I found mixing advices on Youtube, etc but not one about basic adjustments.
Why basic adjustments? So I have something that helps me to get a better understanding of the craft.
But I also do not have a very good sound system, so I thought basic adjustments might help with that.
(Of course, I still have to listen to my music on different music systems to get a reference, too)

Someone once said to me that "Toto - Africa" is a very good reference track, but still might not work, if you are working on a Drum & Bass track.
I also realized the main instrument (Vocals, Guitar, etc) most of the time is the loudest.

Do you guys have reference tracks?
What is your way of balancing your mixdown?

Cheers!
Chris
