Love it Toby. You could save structures like this based on your fav tracks for different genres @ different bpms as restrictive templates to help you get stuff done.

Thanks for the feedback! There's so much high quality (and low quality) stuff on youtube, and I'm so glad you found this valuable. I just finished the second video and will upload soon :-)

Good video. I think many people will find it helpful. You could do this with any song, not just your own. Drop a song that you like into the sequencer and do the same thing shown in this video. Many artists find a formula that works, and repeat it over and over. AC/DC jokes around that they basically wrote the same song over and over. Same thing with Aerosmith from the mid -90s on.
Players are to MIDI what synthesizers are to waveforms.

The next episode is up!
I don't know why I didn't think of this technique years ago!

Also, please leave a comment - I go through a few of my own loops at the end and I've love you to let me know which of the tracks you'd like featured in the next video!

Hi Toby,
I like your new video series very much. It is always interesting to see the workflow of other producers.
You have a nice narrator voice and the explanations in your videos are all well done.
Icing on the cake is, that your style of music is really great and exactly what I like.
Keep up the videos and the good work.

My vote for the track featured in the next video goes for "Deep inside my Heart"

This is exactly why I started making all my loops in the same key and mode years ago. Another good video. I like your series. Keep them coming!
