Hi Everyone!

So I was playing this patch, "SQ Trance Mythos KS" (see soundcloud attachment) on the Dune 3 demo and trying to recreate it using Thor.

There's 2 sounds going on in it using it's arps (so a sequence.)

Forget the high sound but in the lower octave sound, how could you describe the timbre or texture of that sound?

There's something very lush and nice about it. If you just do a very quick tap on a midi note (for anyone who's got this synth) you can quickly hear the bass sound in the patch before the higher string sound kicks in. I don't even know how to describe it's texture. Squelchy? sounds almost like rubbing a balloon slowly.

Anyway, so my second part to this question is, how would you recreate it? would that be something Synapse has engineered into the synth itself or is there something giving it that texture.

If you go into arp 1 and change the type to step sequencer (from midi), you can get just the bass part of the sound isolated.

Thanks!

Kind of hard to understand your question, but I've looked at the patch and there are three layers to it. You know you can solo the different layers right?

Layer 1 and 2 seem to combine for the bassy part, with different filter movements going on.

The squelchy lower frequency parts of that sound should achievable. It wont sound exactly the same because Thor as a different filter and a different character. There's an envelope trigger on the resonant filter that makes the onset of the sound darker and then gradually brighter as filter opens up. But most of that sound comes from the layering and the midi sequence.
