Hi All!

Does anyone still have Synapse Junglist.

I've been trying to replicate the Junglist Bass patch but not succeeding.

I've tried Thor, Malstrom and Subtractor and got closest with Malstrom.

The patch seems to be 2 sine waves initially but I try 2 sine wave oscillators and it sounds nothing like the patch. Copying the ADSR etc too and adding The Echo for the echo effect of the patch too.

Anyone shed any light on how to get this patch sound?

I've scoured the internet to try and find a video of the patch but couldn't.

What is it, a kind of retro Synth??
Can you use it in Reason or its just 32 bit that's why you are trying to replicate the sound??
No idea what kind of nodes that thang has.

Did you have any joy making that patch on Subtractor?

The Junglist Jungle Bass patch is used in this track at 1m02s

Does anyone know where the sound / patch originates from?

I'm definitely hearing saw wave harmonics with lowpass filter with some resonance. So if you want to use sine waves as well, you'll need to distort or FM them (you can see on the screen osc1 is FMed), and then filter.

To my ears, the sounds you're referring to seem to come from a FM synthesizer. The bass and the sub bass sound quite 'DX-ish' to me. I'd try to utilize PX7 for (re)creating those sounds. If I'm not completely deaf then they are DX7 factory presets patches played with roughly half of maximum velocity. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes. It's a sample of Rhythim Is Rhythim - The Dance

Possibly via another record because it got rinsed back in 91-92.

It's most likely a DX100, so to recreate it, try a 4 Operator FM synth like the FM4. PX-7 should be able to do this also.

You can probably do it with a Thor FM Osc also. I've got similar sounds and from what I recall it only requires 2 operators.

Subtractor is limited in the sense of you can't load custom wavetables etc but I know what to do if I want some good bird noises or waves.

Come to think of it Subtractor has FM also, so should be able to get close.

I don't think it's sampled as the octave changes in the track you linked and also the release lengthens at times too.

Also when it goes to a lower octaves it sounds identical to the little bass bit in Passion (Do You Want It Right Now) - Gat Decor.

Exactly the same bass sound is used in this version of The Prodigy's Everybody's In the Place -

On second listen though, although a similar bass to the original Junglist bass, these two sound slightly different.

Got pretty close to the Prodigy bass on Thor using the FM synth. Very close but something slightly different about it. Has to be played in octave 1. The shaper might not be at the original setting as I was messing about with it but wasn't working so turned it off.

I could sample that Prodigy bass as it's isolated, it's just the hiss and the poor You Tube quality.

It's definitely a sample. You an hear that the envelope is faster when the pitch is higher. Anyway, sounds like you have it.
