I'm trying to figure out how to stop a drum roll note in a drum track, but no matter how 'short' I make the note it just rings on.
Now, normally I'd expect it to work like the open/closed hi-hat trick, where you first place your open hi-hat note, and the, right after it, the closed hi-hat note – to make the "hit the hi-hat, and then step the pedal"-sound. But that obviously do not work for the drum roll (or more like a flam really).
It's when using the Reason Drum Kit 2.0 in octave C3 hitting the D or F on the (on-screen piano keys) keyboard.
How to stop a drum roll note (MIDI)?

Pad grouping will probably get the desired effect.

Using Reason since version 3 and still never finished a song.

Sounds like it may simply be a long Release Time for that sample, which means no matter how short the note it will play on after release. You didn’t mention what instrument is being used, NNXT or Kong?
