As anyone tried using the Scream 4 tape seting on their master bus when mixing to warm up the sound? If so would you say its better than using Audiomatic's tape setting?

Yes. But only a little bit. Then your Mix will be smoother.

if by "warm up the sound" you mean reduce/remove high frequency content, yes it will do that. i think it will also add some tape compression but i honestly am not completely sure.

when the high frequencies are tamed, the lower ones become more audible. maybe this is the "warm" you are speaking of?

as for using it on the master, i'd say go for it if you like the way it sounds. i personally do not. i generally use tape compression for basses because i just like the way it sounds.

There is a compressor setting on the "tape" effect in Scream4. It definitely compresses the sounds (you can use it and do a render, you'll see the sound wave is compressed). If I were you I'd use it as in insert in the SSL, my suggestion is not to put your whole song through it. If you want "warm", do it at the mixing level, or find which instruments/parts are too bright and use it on them (alternatively also use an EQ).

I personally prefer Scream4 tape over audiomatic for the hell phase issues..
