Hi,

I've just made another (relatively) quick video tutorial about generating random drum fills in Reason.

Using the random setting for the RPG8 arpeggiator in order to randomly trigger a group of specific notes, one at time, out of a drum kit of your choice, and thus, genereating random fills.

A Random Matrix Curve Pattern is also used to control RPG8 velocity.

Usually a 1 BAR chord made by 1 kick, 2 snare and 3 toms works pretty well.

The idea is not new: I borrowed it from other videos made for ableton, so I thought to adapt it for Reason. :)
Hope you like it.
Cheers

Cool man I have been working on something similar using a different method, going to look in to that drum Combinator btw it sounds great.

Even better we can now add a player to print these drum hits to track, edit them, add groove - yay :)

Oh it seems if you want those great sounding drums you really got to pay for them, yikes. Maybe one day, sound really good.

This is brilliant! I love this type of generative randomization technique!

Thanks, the combinator is an Alt Drums 2 refill patch (https://shop.propellerheads.se/product/ ... ms-vol-ii/)
I just added slightly more compression by increasing the slam combinator knob. :)

Yea, that thought crossed my mind too although I'm still not sure if the random velocity will be "retained" in that scenario (because is generate separately through CV events via matrix pattern). Nonetheless the random velocity is not essential and it can be always added later using the floating Tool Window.

In my opinion Alt Drums are still the best sounding acoustic drums for Reason, at least for Rock, Punk and Metal style.
They are extremely well processed (mix ready if I may say so), they have a decent good amount of round-robin layers, a great midi pattern library and separate nn-xt patches for each kit piece so you can swap/change them easily inside the combinator or build a whole kit on your own.
Oh and the RV7000 reverb patches it provides are also worth to mention. :)

I bought it during may madness say at half price.
ciao!
