Dither Explained (and shown)
Excellent video.
I was actually messing with almost exactly the same thing today in Reason using iZotope's Ozone's dither, mixed with regular audio into a line mixer (so I have direct control over the signal and noise levels, and can mute one or the other), and send the output of that mixer into Blamsoft's Resampler Bitcrusher (turn off the down-sampler, and Scrunch-4 seems to be the cleanest bit reduction).

How much difference does it make compared to what happens to the sound if I do mp3-encoding?avasopht wrote:How much difference does it make in real life?
And I say this having created an error correction based dither algorithm.
