Coming from traditional DAWs, I´ve always found Reason´s transport behavior to be a PITA.
I want space to be start/stop with the playhead returning to the play start position when stopped.
Yesterday I discovered that you can accomplish that behavior by simply rewiring it to REAPER.
Even when Reason is focused it will respond to REAPER´s transport shortcuts because it is the slave...neat. You can set the loop locators using both programs when enabling Allow slave to set loop region in REAPER.

I think what Reason does is quite traditional as it mimics the behaviour i've been used to since the times of Cubase on the Atari ST
That is, if you are used to controlling the various transport controls using the numerical keypad.
If you don't mind not using the space bar, what you want has always been available in Reason by pressing "0" on the numerical keypad. It will set the playhead back to the spot you previously started playing from.

Yeah I know, but I am used to just press space for start and stop. The Reason way is not for me I guess.

I get cha though. Seems to me there should be an option for this. I've grown quite comfy with with number keys for such things. But definitely hear what you are saying.

Late to the discussion but I started in Opcode Vision in the mid 80s and moved to MPC60/60II/3000 till I moved to Pro Tools and now I'm composing on Reason, so I'm used to a play/Start button as well and miss it. This feature would be most welcome.
