Just made a tutorial about Tangerine Dream's famous Ratcheting effect. Enjoy !

As mentioned in the video you need the freely available A/B Audio & CV Switch for Ratchet to work at all.

I wanted to know exactly what the ratcheting effect was, and found this video:

Seems to be really close to what you've done. Pretty cool.

Well, well that is two things I learned today. I didn't even wealize Watcheting (watch the other video) was a term. I noticed the effect in mid-period TD records but didn't think on it at all. It stands out but seems so organic at the same time I didn't even wonder how it was done.
Thanks
Thanks

Yep, I noticed it when the movie was done. It's fixed in the combinator .JiggeryPokery wrote:Cool bananas!

There's probably something wrong with your patching. Can you post the songfile here so I can have a look?ahs wrote:hi,

To Joshuaphilgarlic , Hi I need to buy the full version of Reason 8-9 to use ratchet and also the other item, but was wondering if you could possibly create a VST version of this wonderful Ratchet Combinator so not just Reason users can FEEL LUCKY but KONTAKT users or any vast synth plug ins could use it with say ABLETON LIVE etc, it would be great if you could possible create a vast version soon as possible PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
love TD... so thanks a bunch

Nice Combi.... Good to have an analog in Reason.
Ratcheting in 5 4 3 2 1 .... now... is a little predicable... needs a Glitch, methinks.
Ratcheting brought me here. the Minibrute 2s inspires, huh. Coincidence? I think not.
Manipulating the Matrix to make for interesting, evolving, in your face ratcheting sequences is a bit tedious.

Great video! Very versatile. Wanted to mention that Lectri Panda's Korde has a Ratchet mode (for those of you that might have forgot or were not aware of that feature).
