Reason Experts RIP
From what I saw over the last couple of days it was due to any number of these factors: 1) He was stabbed in the back, 2) He got disparaged by not being able to make a living off of being a YouTube content creator due to the the AI algorithm, 3) Some to do on reddit?, 4) ReasonTalk & 5) An email from RS.
*Sorry - I should have added the detail in the original post instead of being dramatic.

No he was stabbed in the back figuratively.PhillipOrdonez wrote: ↑18 Jan 2025What? Zerocoma you need to expand on these things you’ve written what![]()

Not sure about reddit as he did not expand on it.
He did say that "the Reason community is toxic" - direct quote there. So that might have related to RT? Again he was mysterious about the RT issue.
No detail on the RS email he received, but he found quite disagreeable.
There was a video he posted yesterday showing he took down the reasonexperts.com site. The video today went into the items above. He said that he was going to do a live stream at 8pm (his time) showing him deleting all of his YouTube content. Not sure if that is still happening as ReasonExperts is totally gone from that platform.

There was someone on Reddit over-sharing links to his videos. Some folks thought maybe it was him sharing his own videos. Then the ‘not him’ person got really upset and wrote a long bleeding heart post before quitting.
Then the ‘real him’ deletes all his media? Hmmm ….

hydlide hasn't been active here since 2016. I wasn't a mod at the time, so I don't know details from then. I believe he was a huge help in migrating the forum to phpBB, which maintained the forum activity of that first year or so. I was thinking of putting together a list of instrumental people and the history of ReasonTalk in celebrating 10 years.

That’s crazy
I haven’t even seen anything about him on this forum for months until this thread
Edit: glad it was figuratively too, I should say !

There was a lot of drama from him way back with him violating RS's NDA and him stating his Reason license being revoked.joeyluck wrote: ↑18 Jan 2025hydlide hasn't been active here since 2016. BUT
Despite all of his issues, being personal, he helped me along with a bunch of other users with getting the most out of Reason. Especially when he came back last year posting YT content almost daily with truly creative Reason techniques.
A quick look on my drive...

I spent about 2 hours yesterday downloading 100 of his videos from this year, mainly for My own viewing but also for some ideas in sound desighn which I will addapt into My own video's as He was far better then Me at sound desighn. Waste is exactly the word for deleting his channel, what was the point of that? Punishment for all his followers for the mistake of a few people with negative opinions online?
People on here saying his last videos show him talking about Reason Studios, when it don't. The video focus on how he is making a new channel and making video's about AI generated content because He thinks it will get him more chance of views then making music production video's it won't. The channel he used as an example has been a presenter who is good on camera and has a long history of making viral videos which not many can compete with and I don't think Hivemind can. He will find that channel topic just difficult to grow and monetize as music production.

wow
I hate when content is deleted for whatever reason.
Often good content is removed when there is a purge like this.
Sad

I think it probably says more about the state of Youtube than it does about Reason.djadalaide wrote: ↑19 Jan 2025Its getting like a ghost town, first it was kickback couture, now hydalide.
Wayback machine archived his site only a few days ago. Of course I don't think any YouTube videos would be archived with it and very few if any of the tutorial patches that he gave us either but it may still be of interest to some people for his tutorials.
It also shows the volume of work he put into Reason and the community.
I hope he reflects and reconsiders his decision and restores the site. But even if not I'd like to thank him for all his help and expertise over the many years and wish him every success and all the best for the future.

Ableton doesn't have the same problem, lots of content creatorsJackjackdaw wrote: ↑19 Jan 2025I think it probably says more about the state of Youtube than it does about Reason.djadalaide wrote: ↑19 Jan 2025Its getting like a ghost town, first it was kickback couture, now hydalide.
Ableton has roughly twice the number of active users, and maybe that brings them past the vital tipping point.djadalaide wrote: ↑19 Jan 2025Ableton doesn't have the same problem, lots of content creatorsJackjackdaw wrote: ↑19 Jan 2025

It's a shame. He was a massive asset!

People started out making Youtube videos about stuff they were into for fun. Now it is monetised and controlled by the algorithm, it changed peoples’ motivation for making videos and expectations about what they want to get back from it. So they start to think they should be making videos that the algorithm is going to serve up to people and the videos get more homogenous. And the creators become more like opportunistic shills than genuine enthusiasts.
True. And don't forget the commercials...Jackjackdaw wrote: ↑20 Jan 2025People started out making Youtube videos about stuff they were into for fun. Reason13, Win10
As with most things youtube was ruined once the incentive for creators was financial gain. Ads at the start and ads in the creator video with also the obligatory 'word from our sponsor', 'join my patreon' segments.Loque wrote: ↑20 Jan 2025True. Even creators say they don't make certain content because they will be demonitized which is also censorship through economics.
Youtube is a shell of what it once was.

That’s true. I am curious to see him trying to be an average YouTuber. He’s like the opposite type of person so it strikes me as odd and makes me curious to see how he does cope. Plus, killing his site and channel like that is a reminder of his volatile personality. We’ve seen him quit reason before.Jackjackdaw wrote: ↑20 Jan 2025People started out making Youtube videos about stuff they were into for fun. So for that reason I hope someone shares his new channel here someday.
