Hi All,
Long time reason user here. This is my first post in "Reason Talk" (I just upgraded to the latest version, they squeezed 80 bucks out of me)
Anyway, Im excited to share something that I did today with TimeWARP 2600 by Sonivox;
BRIDGING the ARP2600 Patch panel with Reason CV signals to control the 2600 in Reason Rack.
https://www.sonivoxmi.com/virtual-instr ... -2600.html
As you can see below, the TimewARP2600 (VST2 64 bit) has two (2) audio inputs that are available to use with the Reason Rack.
If you take a closer look you will note that I have used Thor as a CV to Audio converter and sent those converted CV signals to the audio inputs of the ARP2600.
On the upper left front panel of the ARP there are "Preamp" outputs that correspond to the Audio Inputs that you see on the back of the unit in the Reason Rack.
So, I have sent the converted CV signals 1 and 2 (from Thor) to the ARP audio inputs, and patched them to FM (frequency modulation) control for VCO-2 and Exponential Control for the VCA on the ARP respectively.
Note: There is a switch on FM modulation section of the 2600 VCO which allows it to accept an Audio signal, this should be turned on.
Now the "CV1" signal controls the pitch of the VCO-2 and the "CV2" signal controls the amplitude
In this way one can effectively bridge and control the TimewARP2600 using any Reason CV signals ie CV outputs from Matrix, ReDrum, Arpeggiator etc.
In this case I just used a raw CV generator; CV8X4 CV Generator from Aftermath Audio https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rac ... enerator/ to produce the CV signals.
And I can monitor it with CVA-7 CV Analyzer from Pongasoft https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... -analyzer/

This is cool. But surely you can simply patch your CV source from a Reason device into the CV inputs of the Combinator and use its Programmer to map them to controls on the TimeWarp?

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know of a USB->CV interface, that would enable me to say use Pulsar LFO to send CV thru a cable I can plug into my hardware synth CV in?
cheers!
cheers!
Any DC-coupled audio interface should be able to do the trick. Of course depending on the kind of CV you need you might need to do some calibration. I think Expert Sleepers have some nice options and matching REs for this.

I use the doepfer A 190 5. It works great. Also if you have a Behringer Crave the assignable out can be used for modulation. I use it when the doepfer is full. also works great. The MAFD can also do this if you have one.
Also a Korg SQ1 can do MIDI to CV.
It works with sinewaves, etc.
Super easy setup, but you have only one gater and one cv channel.
If you want more, you can use a DC coupled audio interface.
Note that MIDI to CV (which I can do with my Novation SL mkIII) is quite low resolution compared to audio based solutions. This is fine for slow LFO type modulation where the steps are not as noticeable but breaks down for me as I go faster.
That’s why folks prefer audio for modulation such as DC coupled audio interfaces and products from folks like Expert Sleepers.

Thanks everyone. Good solutions but pretty expensive! I think it's a good incentive for staying in the box for CV based stuff!
