Hey all,
long time listener, first time caller
I have a Lead Synth Group in Reason10 and I want to duck it's bass frequencies w/ the Kick Drum using FF Pro MB. Having some trouble :/ please help..
3rd party M.Band comp in Reason
1. create an instance of Pro MB as an insert on your Lead Synth group channel
2. connect the "parallel out" on the back of the mix channel of your kick drum to "Optional Inputs" 3 and 4 on the back of Pro MB
3. in Pro MB select the low frequency band and engage the "Ext" button under the side chain options to the right of the interface.
4. set the low frequency band's compression settings to taste.
You should now hear/see low frequency ducking on your Lead Synth whenever the kick drum hits.
Another alternative that's a little more straight forward but still renders great results: https://www.wavesfactory.com/trackspacer/
This one is a little different than using the Pro-MB method as it splits your source audio into 32 independent bands and attenuates those based on the side chain signal. It's a bit more of a dynamic EQ ducker and a multi-band compressor. You wouldn't be able to achieve this in Pro-MB due to the 24 band limit. Another alternative would be the new FF Pro-Q3, which looks AMAZING!
