[solved] What's up with Reason not seeing (some of) my Waves plugins?

The title says it all - Reason has stopped recognising some of my Waves plugins. They were fine until very recently, then suddenly they disappeared from the sessions I was using them in and they're not showing up in the browser. I was on 13 at the time, have just upgraded to 13.1 but that hasn't made a difference - and it's got nothing to do with the OS (I'm on a Mac) because the plugins are all showing up & working fine in Reaper and WaveLab. I've re-installed the offending units but Reason still can't see them. WTF?

Have you tried looking into the manage plugins thingy? From there you can enable them

That worked! There was some of that Waveshell nonsense that had crashed, re-enabling fixed it, thanks

Pretty dumb of me not to try that first, nerp derp. Mods please feel free to delete entire thread

I think if the next person who runs into this can google and find this thread and will be able to fix the problem instead of creating a new thread here or somewhere else… no?

If we're going to keep the thread open for the education of others, then let me just say that I regret ever getting started with Waves and would strongly recommend that people avoid them (even though some of their plugins are really good). Too much hassle, and of course the company just massively sucks

Can’t disagree there. I even hesitated getting the plugin they gave out for free on Black Friday 2024 anno domino. I have skipped several plugins they’ve given out in the past because it’s waves. Sucks. Fuck their upgrade plan or whatever they call it.

I don't have a huge problem with the Waves update plan, it's a bit of a ripoff but I've been using Waves for many years and only once had to update my collection (which because of the maximum payment threshold meant each plugin cost less than $5 to upgrade)

The thing that shits me most is the fact that I can't rely on them. Seems like once or twice a year, one or more of their plugins just disappears from the menu. And then after faffing around to get them back, their settings have reverted to default in whatever session I'm using them in. So, fuck that

Waves support have been fine to deal with, but their explanation for what went wrong usually blames the DAW or the fact that I'm using a Mac. It's true that I update my Macbook every year and so I'm constantly working on a new OS, but most of my other plugins work fine throughout, and none have the constant stability issues that Waves do
