I have a strange problem with my waves plugins. When loading a certain file into Reason, the plugins wont load and will be replaced with a placeholder. On the other Hand, when i create a new file and try to load a waves plugin, it will work flawlessly. When i save and reload the newly created file, the plugins will load, it ONLY affects certain files and ONLY waves plugins :/
Does anyone have an idea what i am doing wrong ? I am not sure if to contact support and if so, shall i try Waves or Reason Studios Support ? (or both ? )
Thx for reading lol
P.S. : I tried Refreshing the llicense in my Waves plugin manager (no clue how its called right now), no success :/
Waves plugins wont load in certain cases
When you say "certain files" I presume you mean Reason song files that you have created previously.
I have found that different versions of Waves plugins are not recognised as equivalent by Reason. Have you changed major version of your Waves plugins since you last edited your songs ?
You will understand that these things never happen under controlled conditions, so I'm documenting my best memory of what happened.
For example...
I categorise every plugin (Reason 12) and as I have a huge number of plugins (like many of us), this is a massive task. I hated doing it but I once bought a Waves update package because the newer versions offered big advantages. Most of my Waves plugins updated to version 15, some from as old as version 9 (or was it 8 ?). I lost lots of my Waves categorisation data and some song files were broken. Replacing the plugins is easy enough but you lose the settings (the mix) if you do this.
Overall I'm glad I went through this but I won't be doing it again.
Good luck finding the cause.
