Has anyone tried using the plugin VidPlayYTSync? It imports a Youtube video (listed or unlisted) via a URL. Then you can compose to a time stamped version of the video inside the DAW.

It seems pretty obscure, only available through a Patreon account, and I'm not sure how trustworthy this type of plugin is. But it seems like a decent option for composing to video unless there's a better one I don't know about. I recently upgraded to Reason 13 just because it's my only DAW and I needed a full version, but it still sucks not having native video support.

I've used the regular VidPlayVST and it works ok. Sometimes I need to restart Reason because things get off and out of time.

There is also an issue in Reason in which Reason doesn't update the VstTimeInfo while scrubbing the playhead, which makes it difficult when you are trying to locate that exact position for a sound. So you will not see the video move while scrubbing the playhead in Reason, only after you release the playhead or press play will the video position update. Apparently this works in other DAWs using VidPlayVST.

Also keep in mind that the developer doesn't offer support for lost software, whether your computer fails or something else, even with proof of purchase. They require that you keep a backup of the plugin. If you need the plugin again, you would need to purchase it again.

Ah OK so it seems this one probably just adds an extra step of importing the Youtube video. I assume the function is about the same as the regular non Youtube plugin. Thanks.
