An extremely versatile player alternative, looks very interesting

Looks good. Too bad Reason doesn't support MIDI VSTs yet.

There are many interesting Player-type VSTs on the market. Orbit, MIDIGRID, Hexcel, Seqund, Rhythmizer, Harmony Bloom, ChordJam, PlayBeat, BLEASS Arpeggiator. Useless in Reason except with a workaround, but fire in Logic.

Too bad Reason won't support MIDI VSTs ever. They have miles to go to even get the program up to 2010 standards.

I've been Reason exclusive for years and it is only now I'm branching out into using VSTs, sucks you can't use it in Reason, a flaw I was unaware of, so why exactly don't we have midi VST support?

ye, getting a little tedious now. There's a few on that list I have and Playbeat mostly works for me but when it comes to Midi/Audio drag n' drop it is an absolute mess. Now Playbeat update 3.2.8 crashes R12-Win10, Ouch!

Rhythmizer Ultra Sounds useful and I'm liking the vocal effects on it. Good algorithms overall and worth a try out.. Thanks

Only Reason Studios knows, but some have theorized that it would undermine the Player Rack Extension market. I don't buy that since Instrument and Effect VSTs already potentially do that. Perhaps just ask Reason Studios like all of the rest of us have for the last few years. ;-)

It's one of the better generative AI on market but at this point I refuse to use it. I get that sometimes you can find happy accidents that will sound interesting and if this is what someone likes I'm not against it I understand it's use, but FOR ME as a producer making melodies is integral and if I'm just using sample packs or something like generative AI and just slapping some drums on it, I don't feel like I'm developing my craft. I feel like it's healthier for your brain to challenge yourself to learn production skills. Take this for example, these type of melodies can also be done manually by learning rhythms and music theory. But I understand if music is just a hobby for someone and they are developing elsewhere maybe there's a case for this but still in general I believe actual development is best, no matter how simple or what level

I'm one that has said he thinks they're being protective of their Player technology. I hear what you're saying about instruments and effects, but I think the range of Players available and their CV patching feature makes them unique in the world of MIDI FX and therefore worth protecting. In my case, my use of Reason is almost 100% RRP in Logic, and 100% Players, CV utilities and other CV/Gate sequencey devices. And though I own a few MIDI FX VST's, the range and eclecticism of Players excels in that area.

I was gifted Harmony Bloom. What's the workaround to get it to do anything in Reason?

My workaround is a free VST Host called Plugin Buddy. It's a plugin that has a slot for a MIDI FX plugin as well as a slot for a VST synth. It only works with VST3 format.

Here's Harmony Bloom driving Martinic's Pianet. You can also put the RRP in as the Instrument, so you can control Reason devices this way too.

One caveat. There seems to be a limit of four parameters that you can control via MIDI or CV across all the plugins you're using. If track automation is an important thing for you, you might find it limiting.

Hell yeah. At last I can get Scaler2 driving Reason instruments and working the way it's supposed to! Might be time to pick up Bleass arp too

But at the end of the day, nothing beats using MIDI FX in a DAW that can handle them, such as Logic. It just works so much better than a workaround.

For sure. But Reason is all I use, at the moment anyway. Am vaguely interested in checking out Logic, but I don't have the time to learn a whole new DAW right now. Clunky workarounds FTW

You can also use Kushview Elements, which is basically a VST version of a combinator. You can put MIDI VSTs inside of it and play Reason instruments. Poohbear has a great video explaining it here:
Players are to MIDI what synthesizers are to waveforms.

Call me shallow, but I just don't think I could work with an interface like that
