Free plugin from Behringer (their first:

https://plugins.musictribe.com/behringer/0723-AAD

Original virtual synthesizer with powerful oscillators, filters and lfos, modelled on the analog circuitry of vintage synthesizers.
  • Synthesizer engine based on meticulous modelling of the analog circuitry of legendary vintage synthesizers
  • Carefully crafted UI for intuitive sound sculpting and vast sonic possibilities
  • Two high-quality oscillators with hard sync function and selectable waveform: sine, square, saw, noise and sub-oscillator
  • Pulse width modulation of square wave oscillator
  • Two versatile filters featuring 12/24 dB switchable lowpass, bandpass, highpass, notch and formant modes, plus selectable drive curves for lush harmonic saturation
  • Filter ADSR controls are easily accessible on the main UI and a flexible routing scheme allows for serial or parallel filtering
  • Noise generator with Color knob controlling low pass cut-off
  • Following the filters two amplitude modules allows for panning and levelling with controllable ADSR envelope
  • Powerful dual LFO to modulate Oscillator, Filters and Amplifiers. The two LFOs have separate controls for rate, attack, delay, retrig and waveform, which encompass triangle, sine, random and square wave with pulse width control

Looks cool. I want a hardware synth with a screen that big. Will likely download.

A missed opportunity of a virtual Neutron.

Any first impressions? Is it worth waiting for them to upgrade / replace their servers? :P

It's decent enough. It won't win any prizes for innovation but you can get some nice sounds out of it and the price is hard to argue with.
I'm wondering if this is the start of their DAW push. They are supposed to be developing a free DAW so they'll need a few instruments to go with it.

Love freebies, will definitely check it out and a big thanks to the OP as I'd not have a clue otherwise. Where do you guys and gals find all this stuff? Amazing.

Edit, watched a couple "no talking vids", it DOES sound good, but link is down at the moment, just says it can't find the product being searched.

I advise all to try maybe tomorrow and let everyone else keep hammering in the meantime.

The first hit is always free. I wonder how much more they have in their pipeline.

The register button on the nag screen goes to the same page! Not able to register or use. A lot of wasted time.

Hey it is a free. You just pay with your lifetime and generate web traffic to make them look "sought after"

Unbelievable... I finally got in after 2 days... tried to get the License Key and clicking on the button sends me to a dead link. Uninstalling everything and deleting my Behringer / Music Tribe account.

I followed the link and the instructions and I downloaded the synth and got the licence key via email - two days ago @ about 5pm UK time. I'm assuming they had to take the product down due to the server load but they are bound to put it back up again soon enough.

Have patience - it is free after all...

Like I said, it's decent but not world beating.
The display is excellent and really encourages you to tweak stuff.
You can get some good sounds out of it but the presets it ships with are not that great and most of them are too quiet.

If you don't have many VST synths you'll find a use for this but I suspect we all have too many synths.

One minor annoyance is that you can only register it in the standalone version. The installer gives you the choice of VST3 and/or standalone but if, like me, you only install the VST3 you then find you have to install the standalone just to enter the licence key. A real lack of thought went into that one.

But if I was recommending a set of free tools for music making it would come pretty high up the list. I'm interested to see what they do next.

Ok it's getting a bit ridiculous now. Cleared all cache and "we can't find the page you are looking for". They obviously want people to forget about it, maybe it was supposed to be a commercial product. No one can be this incompetent with their web page. Well, it worked in my case at least, I will forget about it after pressing submit.

That page showed up the same day it was initially released. I posted that earlier in this topic.

I don't think so on the commercial issue. Back when they announced they would create a free DAW, they also announced that the mentioned free DAW would come with several free VST-plugins, including instruments. But it certainly does look like they want everybody to forget about it

I think they did a few steps back when they saw their servers being hammered, all the while some people with a working copy started to post on forums that it wasn't particularly interesting. From a corporate image POV, that spells marketing disaster :puf_wink:
