How to use the VST Learn MIDI Assignments so they're saved with the preset

Hello, I'm Using Reason 12 with an M-Audio Axiom61 Keyboard Controller. I would like to use my VST's midi learn functions because it saves the MIDI controls to the VST device. But when I click the VST's LEARN it doesn't recognize my keyboard controllers midi inputs. In logic this works just fine, but in reason it ignores it. I'm thinking this to protect the reason session's learned remote override setting... but I don't want that... I just want the VST's learned mappings.

Is there any way to do this?
