UAD Native Plugins

I recently picked up a bunch of their plugins with their bundle sale. They take my audio from sounding 2-dimensional to 3D space where everything part sits just perfectly in the mix. I own most of the WAVE plugins and they do not come remotely close (sound-wise) to the UAD plugins.

I've been using them for over 20 years and I they are my favorite.

I’m a recent convert and have decided to go all in with Apollo hardware and all the console, tape (Studer is gold), and summing options for LUNA, where the “system” that they’ve build really shins IMO.
But it’s also awesome to have some of my favorites from UA in Reason as well!

What's so good about them? Genuinely curious as I've never tried them. Do they work well in Reason? I have a lot of VST's, fabfilter, slate digital stuff, arturia, waves, are all in rotation a lot. Quite happy with my sound but a lot of that is my mixing overall

They do work well with the latest ver. of Reason and have minimal CPU load. I was simply amazed by how well they sounded compared to the WAVE versions. UAD has 14-day demos. Compare WAVES https://www.waves.com/plugins/puigtec-eqs with UADs version https://www.uaudio.com/uad-plugins/equa ... ction.html and I think you will be blown away by the difference in sound quality.

I bought this bundle last week (+ the free PolyMax they're offering at the moment):

They work great in Reason and sound very good, although I wouldn't go as far as:

What are your thoughts about the Opal Morphing Synth and Moog?antic604 wrote: ↑14 Feb 2024I bought this bundle last week (+ the free PolyMax they're offering at the moment):

I only have the LA-2A and Polymax.
I haven't really used either. I still prefer RE-2A / CA-2A and the UAD LA-2A is lacking R37 adjustment. Yeah I know they have 50 versions of this plugin...so confusing lol
Not sure about other people, but when I load the plugins, the GUI is completely blurred for a couple seconds. They could maybe learn something from Reason Studios and graphics caching? Not sure what is going on there. Opening and closing the same plugin is fine once it has unblurred itself, but when adding an additional instance, it still does the same thing.
Also the patch browsing feels very laggy to me. When I navigate through patches using the arrow buttons, the patch name is always slow to update. Just feels clunky.

I don’t know what others think, but for me I like them best because they are the closest to the originals, which makes sense because they also made the originals (I also have hardware LA610 and 6176). And it only matters to me (and other old farts) because I spent so many years with many of the originals. For others, choose the one you like best!

I believe the blurry UI is because it is the time it takes to connect to their server, once connected it unblurs. Turn your internet off, load a UAD plugin into a session and it will never unblur. As for sluggish UI, I haven't experienced this and everything seem quite snappy here.joeyluck wrote: ↑14 Feb 2024I only have the LA-2A and Polymax.

If you have The Legend (RE or VST), then you have the Moog pretty much covered.amanitamix wrote: ↑14 Feb 2024What are your thoughts about the Opal Morphing Synth and Moog?antic604 wrote: ↑14 Feb 2024I bought this bundle last week (+ the free PolyMax they're offering at the moment):

Haven't played much with Opal yet, but architecturally it seems similar to Europa - 3 wavetable oscillators, 2 filters, LFOs, MSEGs, Envelopes, some FX, mod matrix. You don't need it, but it's fun as well.
Browsing patches definitely feels sluggish here (VST, Windows). When I click on a new preset it seems like it starts loading them with ~1s of delay (old preset still plays) and then it takes another ~0.5s to actually "load" the parameters.ProfessaKaos wrote: ↑14 Feb 2024I believe the blurry UI is because it is the time it takes to connect to their server, once connected it unblurs. Oh, and they have surprisingly few presets compared to other VSTs or Reason's instruments.
In that case I shall choose the best old fart plugins, Selig Leveler, Selig DeEsser, Selig Infuser, Selig Old Fart Compressor, , etc.selig wrote: ↑14 Feb 2024I don’t know what others think, but for me I like them best because they are the closest to the originals, which makes sense because they also made the originals (I also have hardware LA610 and 6176).
