A nice old synth. It's currently heavily discounted (maybe because a Computer Music Magazin version is now available and/or an update is around the corner).

With code GROUP for around 17 bucks.

Is CM offering a stripped down version or full? If it’s the full version it would make more sense to just buy that issue for cheaper.

I am not 100% sure. CM says full version. Found it here

It is offered free of charge with the new issue of Computer Music (full version!), as well as for owners of Adam Audio monitors and Audient cards.

Excellent! For anyone not already owning impOSCar 2: Grab it!

I bought it for around EUR 30,00 roughly two years ago. Really nice sounding synth. Excellent codeing too: The filters of this thing sound way better than some modern stuff you're getting for much more money today. Yeah, Melda Production, United Plugins, JMG Sound (... etc., it's basically the same company / guy)), I'm looking at you!

Be aware though, it is not yet M1 compatible on a Mac.

Just bought ImpOSCar2 today.... Sad that I can't use it in Reason but in Bitwig 5 and Abelton Live Suite 11, it works a treat on my MacMini M1

I'm pretty sure an update is in the works. They've already upgraded Oddity, MiniMonsta and M-Tron Pro to Silicon.

I had impOSCar (not 2) 10 - 15 years ago. Somehow when I tried installing it a year or two ago, it didn't recognize the code or username. I might have forgotten it or something. So I bought impOSCar2 yesterday. Only problem I can't scale it up, I have my monitor set for my Reason Studios and it makes impOSCar2 pretty small. I can still read things on there, and do stuff, it just gives me eyefright. Nice though. And apparently the extra patches don't work on PC or something either. They are .tfx files, not .fxp.

Crap!

impOSCar2 has three size options, small, regular and large. Go into CC Edit mode and choose a resolution. Then close and reopen the VST.

I'm guessing the update to 3 will add proper scaling and not just three fixed sizes.

Still requires Rosetta 2 on Apple Silicon. :|

I thought I'd read in a previous GForce email that they're working on a native version. Can anyone confirm?

It's included with Computer Music issue 328 (Dec 2023), and Beat issue 217 (Feb 2024).

Direct from GForce:

"We are currently working on impOSCar3 which will be Apple Silicon native and VST3 as well as have a whole load of other improvements and features. The upgrade will be a paid step with a significant discount for all impOSCar2 owners."

impOSCar was the second virtual analog emulation I ever bought, years ago. I love it still, but it sure needs the browser updated.

switching from regular to large, then closing and reopening VST helped a lot > thank you so much.
That was hard on my eyes in regular mode.
