I owned (and loved) the K3 and K3m when they were current. The K3 had excellent keyboard action, and both fed their digital waveforms thru a lovely analog signal path, including the filter. I also owned the K5 and K5m, primitive additive synths with a very distinctive sound. I would love to own modelled emulations of the K3 and K5. The UVI versions are samples (29GB!!) wrapped up in basic synth architecture, not so interesting to me.

There is a free modelled version of the K1: https://www.nilsschneider.de/wp/nils-k1v/
He is also working on a (also to be free) K4 emulation.

Thanks! I found someone who had developed a virtual K3, but he abandoned it before it barely got out of alpha. Bummed.crimsonwarlock wrote: ↑05 May 2023There is a free modelled version of the K1: https://www.nilsschneider.de/wp/nils-k1v/

I never had a K3, so I'm not specifically looking for that. I also seem to recall that the K3 was a dog to program. But I do have a K1rII lying around here in my studio, that I hope to get back into action after I build my new desk (that can house the rack gear I still have). That free VST can be used as an editor for the hardware, so that could be fun.huggermugger wrote: ↑05 May 2023Thanks! Just downloaded the vst3. Small download, negligible cpu usage. Its a lot of fun.crimsonwarlock wrote: ↑05 May 2023There is a free modelled version of the K1: https://www.nilsschneider.de/wp/nils-k1v/

That's great to hear. My K4 from 1991 is sitting in the garage in its original box. I've found a few soundfonts for the sounds so I can still use some of my favorites, but something programmable would be very nice. The K4 + a Proteus FX was my "band in a box" before I switched to Reasoncrimsonwarlock wrote: ↑05 May 2023There is a free modelled version of the K1: https://www.nilsschneider.de/wp/nils-k1v/

I think the Nils K1 Vst3 is broken or buggy. I went back to the vst2 version
