VST was deselected by default in the install, with this note...

I suppose most DAWs running on macOS support AU. Will Reason ever support AU?

Maybe I'll be proven wrong, but the GUIs of these plugins seem to be designed by AI like Midjourney, with just some doubling and corrections made in Photoshop.

I still have no desire to go back to those wild skeumorphic GUIs. And LOL at that VST note. Fascinated to learn what the story is here.

I think it's just because most DAWs on macOS support AU? And Cubase is one of the few, not counting Reason, that is VST only?

I'm not familiar. Could be. I didn't see mention of it. The developer is Glenn Olander who worked for Spectrasonics and I believe developed Omnisphere and some other stuff.

The company/developer was one of the early birds developed a flagship synth (at that time).

Not sure I want to try the FX since I couldn't hear something extra ordinary.

That's different though. Like I mentioned, I think it's because most DAWs on macOS support AU (in addition to VST). Thus, I think what the dev is saying for the macOS install is that you only need to install the AU, unless using Cubase, which is VST exclusive. Just like you might choose to not install both the VST2 and VST3 versions now that Reason supports VST3. The dev may even prefer the AU on macOS over the VST3 for whatever reason. But yeah, it doesn't account for Reason not having AU support.
