I think it's just because most DAWs on macOS support AU? And Cubase is one of the few, not counting Reason, that is VST only?
I'm not familiar. Could be. I didn't see mention of it. The developer is Glenn Olander who worked for Spectrasonics and I believe developed Omnisphere and some other stuff.
That's different though. Like I mentioned, I think it's because most DAWs on macOS support AU (in addition to VST). Thus, I think what the dev is saying for the macOS install is that you only need to install the AU, unless using Cubase, which is VST exclusive. Just like you might choose to not install both the VST2 and VST3 versions now that Reason supports VST3. The dev may even prefer the AU on macOS over the VST3 for whatever reason. But yeah, it doesn't account for Reason not having AU support.
