Hej. Just installed Voltage Modular with a bunch of PSP effects. I'm missing something and I know I knew how to do this but how do I get audio to route through the VST and then out again so I can use the modules on my guitar? If anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it. Thanks. I tried using it as an insert effect but I'm sure I'm missing pressing a button somewhere.

Voltage Modular plugs in as either an instrument or an FX. You need the latter.

If you are into VM then checkout the various "guitar gig" bundles by Waverley Instruments. Interesting guitar effects for not much wonga.

I managed to route the audio on the instrument version. Where/ how do I get the fx version?
Sorry...just found it. Duh: :)
Is there any way to have the cables auto-route so I don't have to sit dragging them?

You could always save a patch with the wiring in place to some neutral (stereo) module.

There is a freebie "Cab Driver" module that is perfect for that role.

And then save your Voltage Modular as a Reason FXB and drop it in the Browser. It'll call up VM as well as the wiring.

Good idea! There's also a paid module that is designed for effect send/return. It does nice things with CV control.

You mean set it up as in the picture then drag in the modules I want, connect them to the mixer module and then save as a patch?
Next question is “fxb”? Is that fx bank? What does it do and how does it work? I really have no idea.

FXB is a generic patch format that VST's can read, but it gets saved in the DAW. In Reason, you can save a VST with its currently loaded patch as an FXB by clicking on the floppy disc icon on the VST shell. Doesn't matter whether it's an instrument or an effect. Then save the FXB patch wherever you like and add it to your Browser. When load the FXB from the Browser, it loads the VST AND the patch.

I have FXB's saved for my favourite Reaktor and Kontakt instruments. It saves a lot of time.
