Strymon’s BigSky reverb guitar pedal finally gets a plugin version! Sadly no discount to owners of the hardware version.

AAX, VST3 and AU $199 (USD) -- the hardware pedal costs $479 (USD)

https://www.strymon.net/product/bigsky-plugin/

Strangely it can only be purchased directly from Strymon at the moment and it seems only to people in the US.

I can only assume this is standard plugin pricing - ie: price high so inevitable sales can be discounted. Though $200 isn't that crazy for this kind of plugin, and keep in mind the pedal costs $479 (USD) currently.

In pedal land a fancy reverb is fairly unique but there are tons of massive reverb plugins in VST land.

Cool to see these guys putting their stuff in VST land. As cool as this is, I've already spent way too much on my delay and reverb pedal collection and not about to also start paying high prices for plugin variants. If they follow suit of Eventide's $29 sales, I may be interested.

Where'd they get their pricing model from - Softube? That's a ridiculous price.

I have a Strymon BigSky pedal. I love it, it is pretty much the best pedal form factor hardware reverb around IME. But as a plugin? Nope. So many other good options, both VST and RE.

A particular shout out here for Ekss’ fantastic AK11 reverb RE (https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... verb-ak11/) it is the closest plugin I’ve used to a hardware BigSky pedal for massive ambient goodness. I’ve recently A-B tested Ekss’ AK11 against my BigSky pedal in a hardware send/return from my audio interface (Arturia AudioFuse Studio). It was a close call overall, in fact most of the time I preferred the AK11 RE, it is seriously dense, characterful and warm. End result was my BigSky is now on my pedalboard for live use only.

I'm going to use this oppurtunity to again warn people not to get the JST Sky Box plugin. It's shit, and I still get spammed with emails despite mutliple times opting out/unsubscribing 6+ months after downloading it.

It's VST 3 isn't? That's us PC users out, for now at least. Come on RS! Where's that VST 3 support?

Comedy price though. I guess they will be regularly offering a heavy discount on it.

I was hankering after some new verb sounds and bought a pack of EMT plate IRs from Past to Future Reverbs for £10 , loaded into RV7000 in a combi with a Kuassa EVE eq. Sounds great and a cheap date.

I use PTFR all the time too. Get on their mailing list to get their $1 deal opportunities.
