Hi, I'd like to use the side chain function of the Omni Channel plug-in but don't know how to make it work, in Reason (v10). I see from the Waves' video that there is a way to do it but Mr. Scheps is in another DAW that has a pull down menu, above the plugin, that I don't see in Reason. And the side chain buttons are greyed out, for me.

Can any one who knows how to do this explain, please?

Here's a link to the video referenced above. The side chain explanation is 7:30 into it.

In Reason, you have to patch into the Sidechain on the back of the rack. Look for OPTIONAL AUDIO IN. If it's illuminated green, you're good to go (warning, there are a few plugins that this doesn't work, even though the inputs are active).

Only way I have got Waves plugins to work with side chaining in Reason is to wrap them in Bluecats Patchwork.

What version of Reason? I think the sidechain problem appeared with R11, and was finally mostly resolved with the last R11 update.

Annoying AF isn't? Many Waves* don't side-chain with Reason 12.

Thanks for these replies, the helpful tutorial graphic and references to the Blue Cat product and expert video!

I'm using Reason 10 and Scheps Omni Ch v12. No green lights for "Optional Audio In" so no side chaining possible, unfortunately. It's good to have proof it can't be done, so I can move forward.

Reason 11 and 12 doesn't support Waves side chaining. I believe Izotope was fixed not Waves.

Just tested Scheps in Bluecat and side chaining works perfect in Reason with it. So if you own it (Patchwork), this is an option right there. Otherwise it is a $99 plugin. It is a great resource to have outside of just side chaining. Great for plugin chains, parallel processing and loading VST3 in Reason. I also use it on occassion to get things into Pro Tools that are not AAX.

BlueCat Audio's PatchWorks is a great plugin to have.
