EDIT: Resolved (still not keen on the avoidable complications)
So I just bought a "new" Maschine on eBay.
But it wasn't new, just barely used, and the serial had already been registered
I think it's silly that this can happen. I've got the serial, I've got the model number, and the device plugs in via USB.
It's silly that a transfer should have to be so complicated. So long as it's plugged in via USB, you should be able to force a transfer to your account. The worst that can happen is that a bad mate transfers it and you have to force transfer it back when you get home.
Not impressed.
I've left a ticket and I'm sure they'll deal with it properly in the end.
But it's still disappointing.
It's a piece of kit that makes no sense without the software, with software that makes no sense without the hardware. At the very least, Maschine should always work no matter what if it's plugged in.

Maschine's silly serial registration ...

The seller needs to transfer the license to you through ni.
It's just the way it is.
The software makes sense without the hardware but the hardware makes no sense without the software.
