Roland Cloud tr-808 automate pattern preset

I may just be missing the obvious, but anyone know how to automate the preset and drum kit in the sequencer?

When I click automate in the VST window, clicking on any part of the pattern select drop down does nothing.

I finally found that I can drag from the interface letters A-H to the reason sequencer and the pattern is now in a note lane and you can modify.
